Redemptive Scriptures
Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed [Isaiah 53:4 and Isaiah 53:5].
In the King James Version of the bible, the English word griefs is the Hebrew word חלי choliy . Thayer's Lexicon defines choliy as sickness. In the same verse sorrows is the Hebrew word מכאב mak'ob . Thayer's Lexicon defines mak'ob as pain, sorrow. The prophet Isaiah is prophesying that the Messiah would bear our griefs [sickness] and carry our sorrows [pains].
Matthew 8:17
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses [Matthew 8:16-17, AMP, Matthew 8:17].The Greek word for the English word infirmities is ασθενεια asthenia. Thayer's Lexicon defines the Greek word asthenia, as want of strength, weakness, infirmity; of the body; its native weakness and frailty; feebleness of health or sickness. In the same verse sickness is the Greek word νοσος nosos . Thayer's Lexicon defines nosos as disease or sickness.
1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed [ιαομαι iaomai].
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed [1 Peter 2:24 and AMP].
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken [give life to] your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you [Romans 8:11].
Faith Making Whole
In the passages below, Jesus doesn't say my miraculous dispensational healing power has made you whole. Jesus doesn't say special Gifts of Healing or Working of Miracles, have made you whole [1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31]. But he says your faith has made you whole [Matthew 9:22].
The primary way a believer receives God's healing power is through faith in God's Word [see full text Faith Making Well ]. Believers shouldn't require a sign or wonder to believe in God's healing power. Jesus got upset when people required signs and wonders from him to believe in his healing power [John 4:48, Luke 1:18-20]. He praised people who just received his healing power by faith [Matthew 8:10 and Luke 7:9].
Study these examples of faith to positioned yourself to exercise faith and receive the Healing Power of Jesus Christ.
In the Book of James we read that "faith without works is dead [James 2:20] or "faith without works is useless" [NASB]. Faith that does not produce the appropriate corresponding action is dead, useless, inoperative, inactive, ineffective and worthless [AMP].
We do not strive to do good works to be righteous. Believers produce the appropriate corresponding actions to faith because we are righteous through Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul said, "and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith" [Philippians 3:9, Galatians 2:16].
All the passages below are examples of faith that produced a DEMONSTRATION of faith.
Isaiah 53:12
"Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors" [Isaiah 53:12].
Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus [Hebrews 3:1].
Hebrews 2:16-18
For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted [Hebrews 2:16-18 and Hebrews 2:16-18].
Hebrews 4:13-16
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a Great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need [Hebrews 4:13-16 and Hebrews 4:13-16].
Hebrews 7:22-26
By so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens [Hebrews 7:22-26 and Hebrews 7:22-26 ].
Hebrews 9:11-12 and Hebrews 10:4
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us [Hebrews 9:11-12 and Hebrews 9:11-12 ].For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins [Hebrews 10:4 and Hebrews 10:4].
A Wholesome Tongue
Proverbs 18:20-21
A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit [Proverbs 18:20-21 and Proverbs 18:21].
Proverbs 12:13-14The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips, but the just shall come out of trouble. A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him [Proverbs 12:13-14 and Proverbs 12:14].
Proverbs 10:11; 12:18; 13:2
The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked [Proverbs 10:11]. There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health [Proverbs 12:18]. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth, but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence [Proverbs 13:2].
Proverbs 15:4; 16:24
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit [Proverbs 15:4]. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones [Proverbs 16:24].
Matthew 12:37; Matthew 12:34
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned [Matthew 12:37]. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.[Matthew 12:34].
Long Life
Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor thy father and thy mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God gives you [Exodus 20:12and Deuteronomy 5:16].
Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth [Ephesians 6:1-3 and Ephesians 6:1-3].
Deuteronomy 30:20
That you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them [Deuteronomy 30:20]. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise [Galatians 3:29].
Genesis 25:8; 35:29; 49:33
Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people [Genesis 25:8]. Then Abraham's spirit was released, and he died at a good (ample, full) old age, an old man, satisfied and satiated, and was gathered to his people [AMP]. And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him [Genesis 35:29]. And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people [Genesis 49:33].
Deuteronomy 34:7
And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated [Deuteronomy 34:7].
Joshua 14:10-11
And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in [Joshua 14:10-11].
Psalm 90:17
The days of our lives are seventy years. And if by reason of strength they are eighty years. Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow. For it is soon cut off, and we fly away [Psalm 90:10].
Psalms 37:25
I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread [Psalm 37:25].
Psalm 1:2-3
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper [Psalm 1:2-3].
Psalm 92:12-14
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree. He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD, shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age. They shall be fresh and flourishing [Psalm 92:12-14].

The glory of young men is their strength, and the splendor of old men is their gray head [Proverbs 20:29]. The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness [Proverbs 16:31].
Security in Old Age

Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear. Even I will carry, and will deliver you [Isaiah 46:4].
Psalm 91:16
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. [Psalm 91:16].
Psalms 71:9 and 71:17-18
Do not cast me off in the time of old age. Do not forsake me when my strength fails [Psalm 71:9]. O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me. Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come
[Psalm 71:17-18].
Psalm 145:4
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts [Psalm 145:4]. Psalm 91 He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust [Malachi 4:2 ]: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation [Psalm 91, NASB, Psalm 91 ].
Heart Attitudes
Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life [Proverbs 4:23].
Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones [Proverbs 17:22].
The Hebrew word for merry is שמח sameach [Strong's number H8056]. Thayer's Lexicon defines sameach "as joyful, merry, or glad". Sameach in Proverbs 17:22, is translated by some bible versions as "cheerful, joyful, and even rejoicing". The Hebrew word for heart is לב leb. Thayer's Lexicon defines leb, as the inner man, mind, will, heart, or understanding.
One can conclude that a merry, cheerful, joyful, and rejoicing inner man is a good medicine to the body. The Amplified Bible reads, "A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones" [AMP].
Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones [Proverbs 3:5-8 and Proverbs 3:8].
Trusting in the Lord; allowing God to direct your path in life; departing from evil because you recognize your accountability to God; will bring health to your whole being. If "trusting, acknowledging, and fearing the LORD, is "health to all your flesh". Then logically we could say that the reverse of those heart attitudes will be disease to all your flesh. The Bible is warning you, that the heart attitudes of being, wise in your own eyes [pride]; leaning to your own understanding [trusting self]; and not displaying the reverential fear of the LORD that departs from evil; will destroy your flesh.
Proverbs 3:21-22
My son, let them not depart from your eyes- Keep sound wisdom and discretion. So they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck [Proverbs 3:21-22 and Proverbs 3:21-22].
Psalm 41:1-3
Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth. You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness. You will sustain him on his sickbed [See Psalm 41:3]. God gives a healing promise for considering the poor.
Worry and Anxiety
The Bible revealed several millenniums ago the correlation between anxiety, worry, stress and disease.
Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad [Proverbs 12:25].
Proverbs 15:13
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken [Proverbs 15:13].
Proverbs 15:15
All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast [Proverbs 15:15].
Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart does good like a medicine; but a broken spirit dries the bones [Proverbs 17:22].
Matthew 6:25-31
Jesus Christ said, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? [Matthew 6:25-31].
Luke 12:22-31
And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you [Luke 12:22-31].
Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light [Matthew 11:28-30].
Philippians 4:6-7
The Apostle Paul said, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" [Philippians 4:6-7].
1 Peter 5:7
The Apostle Peter said, "Casting all your care [anxiety] on Him, because He cares for you" [1 Peter 5:7].
Psalms 55:22King David said to, "Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you. He shall never permit the righteous to be moved" [Psalm 55:22 ].
God Gives Strength

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong [Joel 3:10].
Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint [Isaiah 40:29-31].
The word "wait", is defined in Thayer's lexicon as, "to wait, look for, hope, expect, to wait or look eagerly for". Waiting on or ministering to God in praise, worship, and bible study will renew your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10
The joy of the LORD is your strength [Nehemiah 8:10].
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness [Isaiah 41:10].

The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life, Of whom shall I be afraid? [Psalm 27:1]

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation [Isaiah 12:2].
Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength [Isaiah 26:3-4]
Deuteronomy 33:25
Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be [Deuteronomy 33:25].
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me [Philippians 4:13].
2 Timothy 4:17
Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion [2 Timothy 4:17].
Proverbs 24:10
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small [Proverbs 24:10].
1 Corinthians 10:13
But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it [1 Corinthians 10:13 ]. Remember Satan is the tempter [Matthew 4:3 and 1 Thessalonians 3:5]. God is the deliverer [2 Peter 2:9 and Colossians 1:13].
Exodus 15:25-26
And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet [Galatians 3:13]: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee [Exodus 15:22-26 and Exodus 15:26].

Psalms 103:1-3BLESS the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases
[Psalm 103:1 3 and Psalm 103:3]

- Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well. And the woman was made well from that hour [Matthew 9:22, Mark 5:34, Luke 8:48].
- Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, Yes, Lord. Then He touched their eyes, saying, according to your faith let it be to you. And their eyes were opened [Matthew 9:28-30].
- Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith... [Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:5,Luke 5:20].
- Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner? And He said to him, Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you whole [Luke 17:18-19].
- Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me! Jesus answered and said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? The blind man said to Him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight. Then Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has made you well. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road [Mark 10:52, Luke 18:42].
- But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go your way; and as you have believed, so be it done unto you [Matthew 8:13, Matthew 8:7-11, Luke 7:7].
- Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, Lord, help me! But He answered and said, It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs. And she said, Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire. And her daughter was healed from that very hour [Matthew 15:28, Mark 7:27-29].
- And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yes, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all [Acts 3:16].
- "Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith..." [Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:5,Luke 5:20].
- "Then He said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other" [Matthew 12:13, Mark 3:5, Luke 6:10 ].
- "He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing" [John 9:6].
- "And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us! So when He saw them, He said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed" [Luke 17:13].
- "Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David! So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, What do you want Me to do for you? They said to Him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him" [Matthew 20:31].
- "Jesus said to him, Rise, take up your bed and walk. And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked" [John 5:8].
- And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean"
[Matthew 8:2, Mark 1:40, Luke 5:12].
Psalm 103:5
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's [Psalm 105:3].

Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many [Proverbs 4:10].
Proverbs 9:10-11
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased [Proverbs 9:10-11].
Proverbs 20:29; 16:31
The glory of young men is their strength, and the splendor of old men is their gray head [Proverbs 20:29]. The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness [Proverbs 16:31].
Security in Old Age
Isaiah 46:4
Joel 3:10
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life, Of whom shall I be afraid? [Psalm 27:1]
Isaiah 12:2
